FAMU Touts Diversity In Top Fields Of Study

Board of Governors' website

Florida A&M University continues to be a top producer in the nation of African Americans in several fields. According to interim President Larry Robinson, that includes agriculture and architecture. There’s also health sciences, pharmacy, rehabilitation, and therapeutic professions.

“A noted example of this past spring is we awarded PhD degrees in engineering to three African American female students. According to the National Science Foundation, minority women comprise fewer than one in ten scientists and engineers in the United States,” stated Robinson.

Robinson gave that update as part of a work plan presentation during Wednesday’s Board of Governors meeting. He also touted the university’s recent designation as a National Center of Academic Excellence in cyber defense education.
