Volunteer Florida is giving money to rural communities in the state. The agency hopes to improve education for youth in early education through high school.
Volunteer Florida is handing $100,000 in grants to a dozen organizations for educational programs. Organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Big Bend and Boys and Girls Club of North Central Florida are getting $5,000 or $10,000 to mobilize volunteers in underserved areas.
Volunteer Florida is the governor’s lead agency for volunteerism and community service.
