Tallahassee Community College is expanding its entrepreneurship program, with a $300,000 investment from the First Commerce Credit Union. The funds will allow the college to hire a fulltime coordinator for its Spark program.

The initiative offers mentoring, workshops and formal classes for people interested in starting their own business. College Vice President Kimberly Moore says entrepreneurs are a natural fit in the changing job market.

"We recognize that the generations in the past of working in one location and one employer for thirty years is long since passed. Our new generation wants to know how they can create the greatest amount of quality time and flexibility of doing what they want to do. Owning your own business and taking charge of your own destiny certainly allows them to do that," she said.

Moore says the next generation will start businesses, but the Spark program will make the process easier by providing resources and support.
