The Bay County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Sheriff’s Association have organized Operation Pill Drop. The project to dispose unused medication beings today.The Sheriff’s office says it is important to dispose of unused prescription medication before they have a chance to be misused or abused. Although some medications are approved by the FDA as “safe to flush,” it is not encouraged, as the FDA does not want to add drug residues could potentially hurt the environment.
The Bay Country Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Sheriff’s Association created Operation Pill Drop to allow community members to safely dispose of unused medications. The initiative ends November 12th, but pill drop off will still be available after that.
