Musicians and Mother Nature Bring a Hot Time to Tallahassee Museum Swamp Stomp

Tom Flanigan

Tallahassee's oldest outdoor music festival happened on Saturday (7/9). Longtime Capital City music man Del Suggs got the Tallahassee Museum's party started.

"Welcome to the 38th Annual Summer Swamp Stomp!" he exclaimed to a cheering audience. "What a treat!"

The long list of featured musicians included regulars like Adrien Fogelin with "Hot Tamale".

"We've played here maybe five or six times," she said while she and her musical partner Craig Reeder waiting their turn to take the stage. "We really like it!"

And there were first-time Swamp Stompers, such as Michael Lewis's "Common 'Taters and Turn Ups".

"We get a free (Tallahassee Museum) membership out of it and we get to play for all these people," he said. "We're really looking forward to it and it's going to be a thrill!"

The hot sounds were accompanied by a late afternoon heat index in the triple digits.
