Three hundred fifty high schoolers signed up to vote through the voter registration challenge sponsored by the Leon County School board and Supervisor of Elections.
The challenge had Chiles and Godby high schools facing off to see which school could get the most new registrants. Godby students created a buzz by making register to vote signs and setting up a registration table for one hour a day for a week. At Chiles, those wishing to register had two full days to stop by a registration table during lunch or social studies classes. The Leon County Elections Supervisor gave those working the tables registration training. Elections Supervisor Ion Sancho is recognizing both schools this week for their participation.
