Tallahassee Teacher Rod Durham Remembered

Rob Durham's facebook page

A Tallahassee teacher has died while vacationing in Fort Lauderdale for spring break. Rod Durham was and English and Drama teacher at Leon High School. He’s also well known for his participation in the television show “Extreme Weight Loss.” He lost nearly 200 pounds. Durham told WFSU during an interview about the show in 2014 he was motivated by his students.

“To hear that I made a difference in lives and to hear that people want me to continue to do it, means I gotta do it,” Durham says.

And if social media posts are any indication, Durham made a serious difference. Parents, teachers and students have left messages on Durham's facebook page talking about the impact Durham has had in their lives.

Officials say Durham died of natural causes.
