City Wants Crowd To Greet Amtrak CEO On Friday

Amtrak

Local officials are doing everything they can to restore passenger rail service to the Capital City, and now the effort includes crowd sourcing.

Amtrak CEO Joe Boardman will make a fact-finding trip from Pensacola to Jacksonville on Friday, and when the train stops in Tallahassee at 2:30 p.m. for a brief ceremony, City Commissioner Nancy Miller wants a large, enthusiastic audience to greet him.

“The train will only be here for 10 minutes, so absolutely be there or be square.”

Miller and other locals are scheduled to board the train in Chipley and will have a few hours to lobby. She says a big turnout for the Tallahassee stop will help make the case. A decision could be months away.
