The Leon County School District has announced new principals at three schools for the upcoming academic year. The new hires include a new leader for Lively Technical College.
Lively’s new principal is Vernea Randolph. She's been an assistant principal at Lively for more than 13 years and will be replacing Woody Hildebrant, who was arrested in January on charges of theft from the School district. Hildebrant has also claimed whistle-blower protections for his role in accusations school district superintendent Jackie pons steered school construction projects to political donors. The FBI is investigating the affair.
Robinson plans to grow the school’s enrollment and increase course offerings for evening classes, and since she’s been in charge, employee morale has improved.
“With the support of our superintendent, and me during the time as the lead administrator, we ended the year in a bang," she said. "We went through a two-and-a-half year accreditation during the time we were going through difficulty…and came out with no recommendations, no suggestions at all.”
Robinson wants to carry that attitude forward, and is planning to strengthen the school’s partnerships with its neighbor, Tallahassee Community College, especially in the area of nursing.
Sabal Palm Elementary School Assistant Principal Anicia Robinson is also getting a promotion. She will replace Ray King, who retired in December. And William "Billy" Millard is the new principal of Buck Lake Elementary School. Former principal Eydie Tricquet is the district’s new Director of the Florida Diagnostic & Learning Resource Services.
