Ausley To Run For House District 9

Fmr. Rep. Loranne Ausley
Florida House of Representatives

Former Tallahassee state Rep. Loranne Ausley is looking to get her old job back.  Ausley says she's in the 2016 race to represent House District 9.

HD 9 covers Tallahassee and the Western portion of Jefferson County. it’s the position currently occupied by Democratic Rep. Michelle Rehwinkle Vasilinda. Vasilinda is term-limited next year, and Ausley, who occupied the seat before Vasilinda, is planning to go for it again.

She told the Tallahassee Democrat she wants to push the legislature to steer the money generated from Amendment One toward water and land conservation projects, and continue being an advocate for children and state employees.

During her previous tenure as a state representative, Ausley carried a bill that eventually created the Children’s Cabinet—a collection of state agencies that deal with children’s issues.

In 2010 Ausley made an unsuccessful bid for Chief Financial Officer.
