Leon County and Tallahassee Commissioners will host a town hall meeting Tuesday. Local officials want public feedback from Southside residents on how to make the community stronger.
It’s not a secret that the Southside of Tallahassee doesn’t have the best reputation. It’s largely industrial, and home to may low-income residents. City and County Commissioners want to talk about ways to improve housing, neighborhoods health jobs, education and public safety in the area. There will also be information on current programs and future plans for the neighborhood—including a proposal to the federal government to establish a so-called “promise zone” on the Southside.
The promise zone is a federal initiative that pairs local business and community leaders to make investments in under-served areas.
The meeting is Tuesday, March 31 at Bethel AME Church on West Orange Avenue. It starts at 6 p.m.
