Tallahassee restaurants are reminding locals there are healthy and cost effective ways to eat as part of the second annual Capital Cuisine Restaurant Week. Participating restaurants are offering discounted prix fixe menus through May 28th. Carol Dover, president of the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association, said the event gives the community a reminder to support local businesses.
“During the summer, after the kids go home from school, this is a real slow time for our industry in Tallahassee. So we’re doing everything we can to try to get people to dine out, come out, and hear some great music,” Dover said.
The event will conclude with concerts at Kleman Plaza and North Adams Street on May 20th. Academy of Country Music award winning artist Thompson Square will headline the Kleman Plaza performance.
The Capital Cuisine Restaurant Week highlights local agriculture as well by featuring farm-to-table cuisine.
“Many of our restaurants are purchasing from local vendors, showcasing local products. We want to remind people the importance of buy local, stay local, dine out, and support our local businesses,” Dover said.
A list of participating restaurants and their prix fixe menus can be found at the Capital Cuisine Restaurant Week website.
