Valentine’s Day is only a few days away, giving couples a reason to go to dinner and buy flowers, or give singles a reason to stay in. Luckily, or unluckily, Tallahassee was rated 19th most romantic city in the United States.
Amazon.com used sales numbers of romantic novels, movies, and music to put our humble city No. 19 on the nation’s most romantic list. When we asked around Tallahassee, we usually got reactions like this one from Ronda Lockwood.
“Really? Hard to believe!” Lockwood said.
But, Tiffany Baker said, Tallahassee does have that little bit of magic.
“I think that makes sense, it’s a charming southern city,” Baker said through a smile.
Sandra Howard, too, says the city itself has a lot to give.
“We have some of the most beautiful spaces any one could ask for, around Tallahassee, so I think that adds to romance in a big way,” Howard said.
But Tom Payne says he can explain the city’s rank: the weather.
“It has its moments…it gets awful hot in the summer,” Payne told us.
It may not be Paris, says Sandra Howard, but that’s not exactly a bad thing.
“No it’s not Paris, it’s cheaper than Paris!” Howard laughed.
