The Tallahassee Fire Department responded to a building collapse at the Seminole Grand apartment complex on West Tharpe Street early Sunday morning. More than fifty people were injured.

Witnesses say about a hundred people were in the clubhouse, when its second floor collapsed. Tallahassee Fire Department spokesman Mike Bellamy said they had Firefighters from three different stations of the Department on scene just before one thirty.  They’re still trying to assess the damage.

“Yeah, we’ve got an early estimate right now on damages at a quarter of a million dollars and we’ll obviously be updating that as time goes on we can you know, look at the details of the damage,” Bellamy said.

Bellamy said although about fifty people were injured in the collapse, no one suffered life-threatening injuries. The Department is still investigating what led to the incident.
