Tallahassee’s Tom Brown Park was over-run with the un-dead on Saturday. A health advocacy group held a zombie-themed event to try and raise awareness about traumatic brain injuries.
The event’s organizers said they were trying to capitalize on the popular TV show, The Walking Dead. So, The Brain Injury Association of Florida held a 5k run that had people playing the part of either zombies or survivors. Vice President of the charity, Sandra Dreker, said proceeds will help support people with brain injuries.
“We provide services for people with brain injuries; we work on advocacy to make sure that there are services and funding available for them and of course awareness, which is what we’re doing here today,” Dreker said.
More than 350 people ran in the event. Dreker also said, judging by that turnout, she predicts the group will hold the run again next year.
