Tallahassee Businesses Gear Up For $7 Million Dollar Weekend

It’s a big football double-header weekend in Tallahassee.  Seven million: That’s the amount of extra revenue Tallahassee businesses are expected to bring in over the next three days. No other individual event brings in more income to Tallahassee than college football. Lee Daniel, director of the Leon County Division of Tourism Development, says the income will help all kinds of businesses.

“The economic impact I think will trickle down not only from hotels but restaurants and retail shops and gas stations and, you name it, an awful lot of businesses will benefit from this weekend," he says.

Officials say the boost is thanks to two big home games for the ‘Noles and Rattlers, FSU’s Parents Weekend, and FAMU’s Youth Day. An excess of 30,000 people are expected to flood into the city over the following two days, where almost all hotels have already been sold out.
