Even with the advent of social media, musicians just can’t replace the exposure gained by touring. The costs of which can bring a band’s success to a screeching halt. But one company is aiming to make touring a dream come true for artists on a budget.
The Tallahassee company Rock-It Ships is unveiling their newest project- miniaturizing the tour bus. Instead of leasing full size, gas guzzling buses, the company will now offer converted Mercedes Benz Sprinter vans. The converted vans have all of the amenities of their larger counterparts including: kitchenette, bed bunks, couches, satellite TV and internet.
“It came about because we manage a band, Go-Radio out of Tallahassee Florida and they went out on tour on one of our buses and when they came back from that first tour they had spent most of their profits on their tour bus," said CEO Derek Hart.
The company currently has a fleet of fifteen “Rock-It Ships” with five more in production.
