It was a bomb threat that caused Tallahassee Regional Airport to temporarily shut down Sunday evening. Airport operations are now back to normal, but Tallahassee police are still looking for the person responsible.
At around six Sunday evening, the airport was put in lockdown mode, after a male caller claimed there were two bombs on the airport premises.
“One was supposed to be inside the terminal, and one was supposed to be on the outside of the parking lot areas," said Tallahassee Police Spokesman David Northway. "Members from the Tallahassee Police Department along with members from the Big Bend Regional Bomb Squad swept the entire premises and determined that entire area to be safe and once that was done, the airport went back to normal operating procedures.”
Northway says about 300 passengers and guests were affected by the threat and were moved to a secure area, until officers gave the all-clear. By 9:30 Sunday night, all passengers were released and allowed to leave. If anyone has more information about the caller or the case, contact the Tallahassee Police Department.
