FAMU gets fourth-consecutive clean audit

Florida A&M University has received another clean audit from the state. Lynn Hatter reports the latest report marks the fourth one in a row the school has gotten since it came back from a series of blistering reports that almost resulted in the loss of its accreditation back in 2006.

State auditors had no complaints about the university during the 2010-2011 fiscal year. This is in contrast to reports last Spring when the school’s audit director resigned after it was found that he had not been conducting full audits. That did not seem to interfere with the state’s assessment of the university’s finances.

President James Ammons credited Chief Financial Officer Teresa Hardee for her work. It’s the fourth clean audit in a row for the school—which has worked to heal its reputation after a series of bad reports between 2004-2006. These cited numerous cases of financial mismanagement and instability.
