Tallahassee, FL – It's that time again: The 55th Annual Capital Press Corps skits on Tuesday night. As Margie Menzel tells us, reporters will perform for lawmakers - instead of the other way around.
[sound of Dave Royse rapping.]
Rehearsal at The Moon Sunday brought out Dave Royse, who put aside his duties as bureau chief of the News Service of Florida long enough to compose a rap, and of course, Troy Kinsey of Bay News 9, in his classic role as Gov. Charlie Crist.
"I swore an oath...I took a pledge...I have a duty, dammit...to be at the press skits on Tuesday night. Because if I'm not, I'm gonna catch hell from the people. Gonna catch hell. And we can't allow that...not here in Florida."
Tickets are $20, available beforehand at the Florida Press Center, and all proceeds go to the Barbara Frye Scholarship Fund. Doors open at The Moon at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, and the show starts at 8 p.m.
