Franklin defeated Republican Grace Glass. He was first elected in 2022.

State Representative Gallop Franklin (D-Tallahassee) will remain in Florida's 8th District seat.

The Democratic incumbent beat out Republican challenger Grace Glass. WFSU spoke with Franklin on election night. He said he remains focused on growing the state’s rural economy.

“It's not just the district that I represent, but the entire state of Florida. I do want to have an emphasis on diversifying the economy in rural areas," said Franklin.

Glass vowed to keep economic stability in fiscally constrained communities like Gadsden County. She believes more work can be done in District 8.

“The world will know who I am before I leave this place. I know the passion I have for these people," said Glass.

The Republican social media marketing strategist and political newcomer told WFSU News on Tuesday that she will run again in the next election cycle.
