The Florida State University Police Department is investigating the death of a man whose body was found outside the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity house on College Avenue Wednesday morning.

The agency says the man was a 21-year-old former FSU student, last enrolled in 2018, but hasn’t yet released his name.

Lieutenant John Baker, FSU PD’s spokesman, says the call came in early this morning.

“Sometime between 6:30 and 6:45 a.m., we received a call from the Tallahassee Police Department advising that they received 911 call from a City of Tallahassee worker who discovered a deceased white male lying on the ground on the west side of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity house,” Baker said.

Baker says speculation that the man died from a fall off the fraternity house’s roof has not been confirmed:

As of now, that’s not confirmed yet, as far as him falling form the roof. I mean, I will tell you that his body was found on the outside, the exterior of the building on the west side, but as far as falling from the roof, that hasn’t been confirmed yet.”

The man’s body was found by a City of Tallahassee employee who was checking parking meters on College Ave.

FSU PD says no foul play is suspected in the man's death at this time.
