Despite the present pandemic, the need for organ and tissue donation goes on. Kim Gilmore is with Life Quest Organ Recovery Services, which is part of the University of Florida Health system.
"There are currently more than 112,000 Americans waiting for life-saving organ transplants. More than 5,400 of those are from right here in Florida. Every day, about 20 people will die while waiting for an organ transplant."
Gilmore added a single donation can have many beneficiaries.
"One organ donor can save 8 lives. A tissue donor can improve the lives of more than 75 people."
