Florida Veterans are eligible for a number of discounts with proper identification, but some rules put in place negate some of those benefits. A bill in the Senate looks to tackle one of those rules.
Senate Bill 100 does away with the $1 to $2 fee veterans must pay in order to have the word “Veteran” displayed on their licenses. On top of eliminating this fee, the measure expands the kinds of identification Veterans may present in order to receive “Veteran” identification on their license. That includes their veteran health id card and their veteran id card.
The Revenue Estimating Conference estimates that the new provisions will cost the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles up to $10,275.
The Florida Senate passed the bill and it is up to the House to pass it next.
