Florida Sends Help To Other States To Deal With Natural Disasters, Including Harvey

Governor Rick Scott's press office

Florida is helping several states deal with their natural disasters, including Hurricane Harvey.

Over the weekend, Governor Rick Scott deployed 25 Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers to help Texas with emergency assistance, after Hurricane Harvey.

And, Monday, Scott announced 37 additional FWC officers and 21 boats were already en route to Houston. And, about 60 more officers and 20 boats were expected to join them later.

Meanwhile, on top of the about 80 wildland firefighters deployed to western states over the last two months, 36 more Florida Forest firefighters have now been sent to help battle more than 60 wildfires.

Because they’re classified as firefighters with the Type 2 Incident Management Team, these firefighters undergo rigorous training to specialize in addressing complex national and state emergencies.
