40 more wildland firefighters from Florida are now heading to the western part of the U.S. to help deal with one of the worst wildlife seasons in American history. That’s on top of the 41 sent last month.
The two new crews of 20 Florida Forest Firefighters come from districts all across the state. They’ll be joined by 80 other firefighters from Georgia and Puerto Rico. All will fly to Oregon to get their fire assignments.
According to the Florida Forest Service, more than 340 firefighters have been deployed so far this year to help battle the blazes in the western U.S.
