Local Accident Victim Gets Legislative Relief

Florida Senate

The Legislature is poised to approve a 1.5 million-dollar payment to a former Tallahassee teacher who was seriously injured when an ambulance ran a red a light in 2013.

Angela Sanford suffered brain damage in the 2013 accident and is unable to resume her career. Democratic Senator Bill Montford says taxpayers won’t be footing the bill.

“This is a settled claim bill in the amount of 1.5 million dollars to compensate Angela Sanford for injuries that were caused by a Leon County ambulance. There’s insurance to pay the claim.”

Republican Representative Halsey Beshears is sponsoring the companion measure. The Senate approved a similar bill last year, but the House was refusing to approve any so-called claims bills at the time.
