Legislation making it easier for Floridians to get their guns back from law enforcement is heading to the House floor. The measure also stops law enforcement from taking a gun during a domestic violence call if there’s no arrest.
Rep. Cynthia Stafford said she’s concerned the measure would leave domestic violence victims even more vulnerable. “I just think this will have a chilling effect on domestic violence situations, again when there’s no arrest made and often times there are no arrests made,” she said.
The measure also removes a requirement that a person obtain a court order to get a gun back if taken without a warrant.
