The Florida Supreme Court is allowing the House to support Gov. Rick Scott in the lawsuit brought by Orlando prosecutor Aramis Ayala. Ayala has filed both a federal and state lawsuit against Scott.
The House has until May 3rd to file an amicus brief with the Florida Supreme Court. The House argues Governor Scott has the right to replace State Attorney Ayala on capital cases. Ayala announced she won’t seek the death penalty because she says it’s costly and discriminatory. The House and Senate are both considering cutting her budget. But the Senate’s proposal cuts less.
