Governor's 30-Second Spot Defends Incentives

Florida Governor Rick Scott, who is widely believed to be eyeing a U.S. Senate seat, is taking to the airwaves next week to defend corporate incentives.

Scott is feuding with Speaker Richard Corcoran over a House plan to eliminate Enterprise Florida and pare back Visit Florida, the tourism marketing arm.

The 30-second spot features close ups of Scott in a broadcast studio speaking forcefully into a microphone.

“The politicians in Tallahassee don’t get it. They don’t understand how jobs are created. If the politicians in Tallahassee say they don’t want to market our state and we lose tourists, then we’re going to lose jobs.”

The ad is paid for by Scott’s “Let’s Get to Work” political committee, which is backed by Disney, Publix and other Florida corporate elites. Corcoran’s assault on incentives is convincing pundits he intends to run for governor.
