New Legislation Would Help New Moms Shop

A new measure by a Florida senator could make it easier for pregnant and nursing mothers to shop.

Sen. Lauren Book, D-Plantation, filed legislation Thursday to require certain benefits for new moms at shopping centers. Book wants stores and shopping centers with more than 100 parking spots to have at least one spot for expectant mothers.

The spaces would be closer to the stores like handicap spots. It also requires a separate breast-feeding area. If signed into law, it would take effect in July.
