State wildlife officials are reminding Floridians about the extended Gulf red snapper season this month.
Due to Hurricane Hermine, Governor Rick Scott says he requested the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission expand red snapper season to “offset the economic effects” of the storm.
According to the FWC, recreational fishing in the Gulf adds $7.6 billion to Florida’s economy every year.
So, FWC officials are now expanding recreational red snapper fishing this month to include this upcoming Veteran’s Day weekend—meaning Friday and Saturday.
In addition to this past weekend, the seven additional fishing days also include the Thanksgiving Holiday—November 25th through the 27th.
