Florida Governor Rick Scott is shaking up the Florida State University Board of Trustees. He's parting ways with former chair Allan Bense. For the past five years Allan Bense has served on the FSU board of trustees, but Friday Governor Rick Scott chose to appoint Maximo Alvarez in his place. Bense played a major role in selecting former state Senator John Thrasher as the school's president and he counts that as his top accomplishment in the post.
"As chairman then I am very proud we did that, and I would call that the best thing I ever did, maybe one of the top fives things in my life I ever did," Bense says.
But Bense and the governor disagreed over a tuition hike in 2013. The new board member, Alvarez, is president of the Sunshine Gasoline Distributors.
