A former Pentagon lawyer who won acclaim fighting the U.S. use of torture will be the guest speaker Wednesday at Florida State University’s distinguished international law lecture series.
Harvard Law professor Alberto Mora was a Defense Department insider when he fought the George W. Bush Administration’s use of harsh interrogation techniques.
Mora’s efforts were featured in the 2008 Academy Award-winning documentary, “Taxi to the Dark Side.”
Mora’s lecture is entitled, “Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo: The Enduring Consequences of Disregarding Legal Ethics.” It begins at 3 p.m. at the law school’s D’Alemberte Rotunda.
