Some Florida officials are speaking out against Tuesday’s Brussels attack that Belgian officials say left more than 30 people dead as well as hundreds of wounded.
On Tuesday, Governor Rick Scott directed flags to be flown-at half-staff to honor the victims, saying his thoughts and prayers are with the people of Belgium to “denounce these senseless acts of terror.”
Former Republican presidential candidate and current Florida Senator Marco Rubio echoed those remarks. In a tweet, he added the U.S. and Europe must be united in striking ISIS—which claimed responsibility for the attacks.
And, in a statement, Democratic U.S. Senator Bill Nelson says the bombings in Brussels are a reminder for everyone to remain vigilant and ‘if you see something, say something.’”
