Crisafulli: No Pressure From NRA

House Speaker Steve Crisafulli denied Tuesday he felt pressured by the National Rifle Association to rescue a controversial “Stand Your Ground” bill.

The House bill died in a committee but in a rare move, House leaders agreed to run the Senate version through another House committee.

“We’ve done other work that the NRA has bene supportive of, but certainly not under pressure.”

The bill would shift the burden of proof for invoking “Stand Your Ground,” from defendants to prosecutors.

Republicans joined with Democrats to kill the measure when it made its first stop in a House criminal justice committee.

The measure has already been approved by the full Senate.
