Enterprise Florida held a Board of Directors meeting to discuss ongoing and developing issues in the Florida economy.
A significant element to the meeting was Florida’s economic recovery, headed by Enterprise Florida VP John Robertson. His outlook remains optimistic, despite a dip in middle-wage job growth during the recession.
“In the last year in Florida, there’s been a big surge in the growth of high-wage jobs,” Robertson says.
According to a recent report released by the Department of Economic Opportunity, Florida has seen an increase of nearly 280,000 jobs since last year, with the highest gains in the hospitality and leisure industries. Middle-wage jobs have also seen significant growth, with industries like professional and business services, trade, private education and health services leading the way.
