Tallahassee Community College History Festival
For the first time, the Capital City will have an open-air festival celebrating the past and its impact on the present on Saturday, March 26 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Kleman Plaza. To talk about it, as well as the larger implications of today’s controversy about history and how it should be taught, are: David Proctor, head of TCC’s Department of History; TCC History Professor and President of the Tallahassee Historical Society Bob Holladay; and TCC English Professor Teresa Paliwoda.

FSU Stadium Blueprint Project
For months, the Tallahassee community has been roiled by a proposal to allocate $20 million in Blueprint funding for repairs and “enhancements” at Doak Campbell Stadium. Now, on the day of the Intergovernmental Agency vote on whether or not to proceed with a bond issue for the money, the pros and cons are discussed by: Tallahassee NAACP Chapter President Mutaquee Akbar; and Leon County District 5 Commissioner Kristin Dozier (both opponents); and project advocate Jared Willis, vice president of Grow Tallahassee.

Tallahassee's Refugee Rescuers
Since 2015, more than 750 refugees from all over the world have relocated to Tallahassee. Settlement in their new home was made possible by International Rescue Committee Tallahassee. To talk about it are: Committee Community Engagement and Outreach Coordinator Karen Duncan; Committee Site Manager Leann Halsey; and John McBride, an agency volunteer whose local rental property is now the home for a family from Afghanistan.

On tonight’s program: Some college students fear that moving to Florida will put them at risk of catching the coronavirus; Will college football kickoff as scheduled in Florida, or will the season be blown dead before the first snap?; Attorneys for the state’s largest teachers union have convinced a judge to hear the case over school reopening’s and a ruling came in a motion for dismissal this morning. The case stems from an executive order sent by the state requiring schools open before September or face penalties; Concerns about a post office slow down rise just as voters are being encouraged to send their ballots through the mail. We ask, how long does it really take?; A Florida film commissioner thinks film and TV productions could help boost the state’s post-COVID economy; The state of Florida suddenly backs away from a legal fight over how the state’s twenty-eight colleges handle the requirement their students learn civics.

FSU Research Update
Florida State University Vice President of Research Gary Ostrander says the coronavirus pandemic has made the work done in the school's laboratories and other exploratory facilities more critical than ever. He talks about FSU's new COVID testing lab for students, faculty and staff and how quickly its results can be turned around. He also has plenty to say about the increasing amount of private sector contract research the school is doing and the ongoing efforts to turn that into local economic advancement.

On tonight’s program: The decision on whether or not to physically reopen Florida’s public schools now rests with the state’s individual school districts; We visit one Florida school district and talk with some of the teachers trying to juggle health and safety along with in-person and virtual classes; Florida colleges and universities are looking to crack down on large gatherings and students not wearing masks; As the concerns about the coronavirus continue, some businesses look for ways to move forward; There’s a reason Florida is considered a “purple” state. Now a new political action group aims to nudge the electorate in a “bluer” direction; As the deadline for voters to register for the presidential election draws near, voter registration groups worry about what will happen with felons who want to register, but are waiting on a ruling out of the Eleventh District Court of Appeals; The race is on for the U.S. Census to get everyone counted by the end of September.
