    The funds raised support Energy Camp and the ReThink Science Engagement Program that provides STEM-based school and afterschool projects and instruction. The after-school program was created because our energy camp has been such a success that we were inspired to provide similar experiences year-round. ReThink Energy project managers lead students through hands-on activities such as building solar bugs and testing soil and air.

    Your support continues the good work done by our SEED Project – bringing solar power to low-and middle-income Neighborhoods in Tallahassee. ReThink’s Action Fund uses donated funds to advocate for renewable energy policies throughout the year. Specifically, at the Capitol with Florida’s elected representatives fighting for legislation benefiting your interests as it advances public will and public funding for climate innovation and clean energy policy advocacy.

  • The Crooked River Lighthouse will be hosting a very special Blues & BBQ themed Twilight at the Tower on Friday, December 5 from 6:00-8:00 pm ET in Carrabelle, FL. This festive Blues & BBQ evening invites visitors to enjoy live music from the talented duo “Blues Meets Girl,” a glowing bonfire, and a delicious BBQ meal from Fatdaddy's Smokehouse, all set at the foot of Carrabelle’s lighthouse. Visitors can enjoy the natural surroundings as the golden sun sets, the Cold Moon rises, and one of the longest nights of the year unfolds.

    Powerful musical duo, Blues Meets Girl, is a collaboration of British Blues veteran Mr. Downchild and Texas born singer/songwriter Kasimira. These two bold artists weave their separate influences together to create down-home, smokin’, sexy blues music at its best. Listeners can feel and relate to the soulful and passionate songs, as well as their unique renditions of the classics by Muddy Waters, Etta James, Big Mama Thorton, Elmore James and more. Blues Meets Girl is bona fide Blues thru and thru.

    Visitors can tour the Keeper’s House Museum and see the original, historic Fresnel lens constructed in 1894 in Paris, France. The lighthouse gift shop will also be offering unique nautical gifts and souvenirs. Guests are welcome to bring a chair and relax on the grounds as the color of the sky goes from watercolor hues to evening blues and the first evening star appears.

    Visitors seeking an unforgettable experience can enjoy twilight tower climbs to the top of the tallest lighthouse on the Forgotten Coast. From the top, climbers will be treated to panoramic views of St. George Sound, Carrabelle Beach, the brilliant colors of the sunset, and the glow of the rising moon. Twilight climb tickets are $5 and available in the gift shop before and during the event. Participants must be at least 44 inches tall and kids 12 and under climb free with an adult.

  • Sugar, spice, and everything nice are back at the Leon County Public Library for the Seventh Annual Community Gingerbread House Competition! Put your creativity to the test in this family-friendly contest and compete for a chance to win prizes. Everyone is welcome to come by and admire the sweet creations. Registration is not required this year for participation.

    Winners will be chosen in four divisions:

    Child, ages birth to five
    Child, ages six to eleven
    Teen, ages 12 to 17
    Adult, 18 and older

    Gingerbread houses should be 100 percent edible but may include lighting. Kits are allowed. Participants must drop off their houses at the Leon County Main Library on Saturday, December 6, between 11 a.m. and noon. The event opens to the public at 1 p.m., and houses must be picked up that day between 4 and 5 p.m.
  • The Carrabelle Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to the 2025 Holiday on the Harbor Festival and Boat Parade of Lights on Saturday, December 13 from 1:00-7:00 pm ET on Marine Street and along the harbor in Carrabelle, FL. This festival will feature terrific children’s activities, arts and crafts, delicious food, holiday music, and of course, the lighted boat parade. This favorite Christmas tradition on the Forgotten Coast is free and family-friendly.

    The children’s activities will include visits with Santa, mini-train rides, a bouncy house (courtesy of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department) and a book giveaway by Bring Me a Book Franklin. In keeping with the Carrabelle tradition, Santa will make his grand entrance on the City of Carrabelle Fire Truck. Children and families are welcome to come by Santa’s booth for a visit and photos with Santa.

    This festive event will also feature an array of yummy holiday treats and delicious food to enjoy throughout the day. Shoppers can browse a wonderful selection of unique art, crafts, and locally made goods—perfect for finding those special holiday gifts. Adding to the cheerful atmosphere, the festival will be filled with lively holiday music to get everyone in the spirit of the season.

    While in Carrabelle, visitors are invited to complete their holiday shopping with unique and one of a kind items at Carrabelle’s wonderful stores, gift shops and art galleries conveniently located within walking distance of the festival. Then guests can enjoy delicious fresh seafood and tasty home-style cooking at one of several cafes, restaurants or festival food vendors.

    After enjoying hours of food, festivities, and fun, festival-goers are invited to watch the magical Christmas parade of boats decked out in lights, décor, and holiday outfits! Festival-goers are invited to find a spot along the water and enjoy this parade with double the lights as the Carrabelle harbor beautifully reflects back the glow of the lighted boats. Boaters can see this special nautical tradition from an unbeatable viewing point by entering their own decorated boat for free!

    The parade starts around 6:15 pm and proceeds around the Carrabelle harbor between the Marine St. Fishing Pavilion and the Tillie Miller Bridge so it can be enjoyed from many viewing spots. (Viewers are asked to remain in public access areas only and avoid private property.) Following the Boat Parade the boat parade trophies, including the Marina Challenge Trophy, will be awarded at an awards ceremony shortly after at C-Quarters Marina.
