The 2025 Summer Reading Program will burst onto the scene on Monday, June 16 and continue through Thursday, July 24 at both the Eastpoint and Carrabelle Branch Libraries.The program, sponsored by the Friends of the Franklin County Public Libraries, will feature fun and imaginative activities and events for both kids and adults. Library programs are free and open to the public - no library card required.

This year’s theme, “Color Our World”, focuses on art and creativity at the library. The program is designed to inspire and engage readers of all ages through a variety of artistic expressions. Guests are invited to celebrate every page, paint stroke, and performance that add a little more color to the world.

The first week of the Summer Reading Program will be held June 16-20 at the Franklin County Public Libraries. Visitors are invited to festive Kick-off Parties on Monday, June 16 at 11:00 AM ET at both library branches, where they can explore the exciting lineup of upcoming events and enjoy chalk art, creative games, and snacks.

This July, First Friday lands on the Fourth of July—and while we love a celebration, we know that’s a night for fireworks, family, and fun across the city.

So we’re bringing the First Friday energy to Saturday, July 5 instead! Join us for the very first “Day After First Friday”, featuring the same amazing mix of local art, food, music, and community vibes you know and love.

Hosted at Railroad Square—the place to support creative LOCAL businesses—this special edition of First Friday offers:
- Open galleries and creative micro-businesses
- Delicious food and drink (yes, your favorites will be there!)
- Live music and performances

- Come stroll, shop, and celebrate with us—just a day later than usual.

*Wear walking shoes! Roads close by 6pm to ensure pedestrian safety. After that time, you will need to park along FAMU Way or another location and walk (or call a Capital City PediCab!). We encourage carpooling and drop-offs.

On Saturday, August 9, The Pyramid Players of Tallahassee-Studios will take the stage at The Moon to present "One Night In Vegas"

They say what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, word on the street is The Pyramid Players are ready to spill the tea! Co-written by Pyramid Studios' playwriting class and featuring a magnificent collection of songs from the early 60’s, One Night in Vegas is a smorgasbord of vintage Vegas glam and contemporary wit! It has a little bit of everything you’d expect to find in Sin City – entertainment, intrigue, jealousy, gambling, magic and, of course, love! Watch as Trixie and Vince, caught in a tug-of- war between romance and a scheming wedding planner, try to make it down the aisle to happily ever after. Will they beat the odds or are the cards stacked against them? Join us at the tables to see just who gets dealt the winning hand!

Doors open at 5 p.m. with a Pyramid-wide Art Show & Silent Auction. Hors D'oeuvres from 5-6:30. Curtain is at 7 p.m.

The Crooked River Lighthouse will be hosting Coastal Twilight at the Tower on Friday, August 8 from 8:00-10:00 pm ET in Carrabelle, FL. This special after-hours event invites visitors to enjoy the gorgeous natural surroundings of St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach as the golden sun sets below the horizon and the Sturgeon Moon rises.

The moon in August is called the Sturgeon Moon because of the giant lake sturgeon of the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain; this native freshwater fish was readily caught during this part of summer and an important food staple for Native Americans who lived in the region. (Credit: Almanac.com)

Visitors can tour the Keeper’s House Museum and see the original, historic Fresnel lens constructed in 1894 in Paris, France. The lighthouse gift shop will also be offering unique nautical gifts and souvenirs. Guests are welcome to bring a chair and relax as the color of the sky goes from watercolor hues to evening blues and the first evening star appears.

Those who wish to climb to the top of the tallest lighthouse on the Forgotten Coast can take part in twilight tower climbs. From the top, climbers will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views, the colors of the sunset, and the glow of the rising moon. Evening climbs cost $10 and are scheduled at 15-minute intervals throughout the event. Due to limited availability, climb reservations are strongly encouraged. Climbers must be at least 44 inches tall. Children under 12 climb free with ticketed adults.
