  • Join us on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Florida A&M University Brooksville Agricultural and Environmental Research Station (BAERS), 22495 Chinsegut Hill Road, Brooksville, Florida, for a day of healthy family fun, cultural reflection, and agricultural discovery during the Florida Emancipation Day and FAMU Farm Fest.
    Presented in partnership by the Tampa Bay History Center and Florida A&M University (FAMU), this special event commemorates the 160th anniversary of Florida Emancipation Day, marking the historic moment on May 20, 1865, when the Emancipation Proclamation was officially announced in Tallahassee, freeing enslaved people in Florida.
    Attendees will enjoy a day filled with educational exhibits, interactive activities, local food, live entertainment, and opportunities to learn about Florida’s agricultural roots and rich African American history. The event also highlights the mission of the land-grant system at FAMU, which integrates teaching, research, and extension (outreach) to build a better, more equitable future for all.
    The FAMU Farm Fest is designed to raise public awareness of how land-grant institutions like Florida A&M University work to uplift communities through education, innovation, and engagement. We’re excited to welcome families, farmers, producers, and neighbors from Hernando and surrounding counties to this one-of-a-kind celebration.
  • The 2025 Summer Reading Program will burst onto the scene on Monday, June 16 and continue through Thursday, July 24 at both the Eastpoint and Carrabelle Branch Libraries.The program, sponsored by the Friends of the Franklin County Public Libraries, will feature fun and imaginative activities and events for both kids and adults. Library programs are free and open to the public - no library card required.

    This year’s theme, “Color Our World”, focuses on art and creativity at the library. The program is designed to inspire and engage readers of all ages through a variety of artistic expressions. Guests are invited to celebrate every page, paint stroke, and performance that add a little more color to the world.

    The first week of the Summer Reading Program will be held June 16-20 at the Franklin County Public Libraries. Visitors are invited to festive Kick-off Parties on Monday, June 16 at 11:00 AM ET at both library branches, where they can explore the exciting lineup of upcoming events and enjoy chalk art, creative games, and snacks.

    Summer Reading is an annual program that brings children, teens, and families to local public libraries for reading and activities. A Summer Reading Program:
    - encourages lifelong reading habits,
    - supports reluctant readers with activities,
    - helps children maintain their skills over the summer,
    - generates interest in the library and books, and it being summer,
    - can just be good fun and provide an opportunity for family time.

    The Summer Reading Program is sponsored by the Friends of the Franklin County Public Libraries, a 501(c)(3) organization that supports the Franklin County Public Libraries in Eastpoint and Carrabelle, FL.   • Pineappetit - a Caribbean inspired restaurant located in Tallahassee, FL will be featured on Food Network with Guy Fierri Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives on April 18th at 9pm.
  • The annual home and garden tour also features a choral Evensong service and reception, and a public silent auction and jumble sale on the grounds of Trinity Church.   • The Friends of the Franklin County Public Libraries (FFCPL) invite residents and visitors to enjoy free, fun, and educational events for all ages—no library card required! All supplies are provided. These programs foster creativity, learning, and connection in an inclusive environment.

    Kaleidoscope Play & Learn:
    Kaleidoscope Play & Learn is a fun, development-focused playgroup for children ages 0-5 and their caregivers. It’s a great space for caregivers to connect, build friendships, and explore how kids learn through play.     Storytime at the Libraries:
    Storytime introduces young children to books, rhymes, music, and activities designed to spark a love of reading. This month’s book, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs written by Judi Barrett and drawn by Ron Barrett. In this book, life is delicious in the town of Chewandswallow where it rains soup and juice, snows mashed potatoes, and blows storms of hamburgers--until the weather takes a turn for the worse. Attendees will then make a craft. This program is best suited for those 2-6 years old.

    STEM Space: Egg Drop Challenge:
    STEM Space at the library provides an interactive environment for exploring Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Participants will engage in an egg drop challenge, an engaging way to explore basic scientific concepts and have fun with a hands-on activity. This event is best suited for those ages 8-12 years old.

    Don’t have your own Mahjong tiles or card? No worries! While we encourage you to bring your own, we also have Mahjong supplies available for purchase in-store.
