Join us for a two-day conference hosted by the Election Law Center, led by Professor Michael Morley and Executive Director Maureen Wagner Vinson, as FSU Law delves into the most consequential election case in U.S. history.

The event will feature a keynote address from David Boies and Ben Ginsberg, counsel in the landmark Bush v. Gore case heard by the U.S. Supreme Court. Together, they will offer unparalleled insights into the legal arguments, the Supreme Court’s ruling, and its lasting impact over the past 25 years.

In addition to the keynote speeches, the event will examine the ongoing implications of Bush v. Gore’s key holdings and assess how the federal judiciary’s role in resolving election disputes has evolved since that ruling. Attendees can also look forward to engaging panels featuring more than a dozen nationally known election law professors, as well as federal and state judges and key former state and county officials involved in resolving the disputes surrounding the 2000 election.

There will be a special gallery opening during the event showcasing the original U.S. Supreme Court artist sketches, which capture the drama and significance of this high-profile case. Breakfast and lunch will be provided to all attendees.

This is a fantasy story about angels and what their days are like. The illustrations are beautifully done. Both the author and illustrator will be in attendance.

Camp Gordon Johnston WWII Museum in Carrabelle is presenting a special exhibit on U.S. Women in WWII. This exhibit will open Tuesday, March 4, 2025 and will be on display at the museum until Saturday, March 29. The museum is open every Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm and there is no charge for admission.

American women served in the war effort as members of the WACs, WAVEs, SPARs and in the US Marine Corps as well as civilians in the war industries throughout the country. This exhibit will explain the role of women, highlighting individuals like US Navy Flight Nurses, who were the first women to arrive at battles like Iwo Jima and Okinawa. The exhibit will feature artifacts including uniforms, handbooks and even a practice aptitude test given to women applicants hoping to enlist. Camp Gordon Johnston Museum will also remember and honor many of the local women of Franklin County who served in WWII.

Camp Gordon Johnston WWII Museum and American Legion Post 82 have joined forces to host the 6th Annual Dice Run on Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 12:00-4:30 pm in Carrabelle, FL as part of the 30th Annual Camp Gordon Johnston Day. The Dice Run will take place immediately following the Camp Gordon Johnston Veterans Parade and is a much-needed fundraiser to support the missions of both Camp Gordon Johnston Museum and American Legion Post 82. The funds raised are used to share the stories of those who served at Camp Gordon Johnston and in WWII and to honor all our military veterans.

Participants will enjoy a leisurely ride or drive along the Forgotten Coast on scenic US Highway 98, stopping at several fun locations to roll dice at each. At the end of the day, those with the highest and the lowest combined dice rolls will win prizes. All types of vehicles are welcome. If it’s legal to operate on a Florida highway, it can be entered. Bikers, riders, car clubs, Jeepers, veteran supporters, social organizations and anyone looking for a day of fun and friendly competition are encouraged to join.

The Dice Run will kick-off at the first stop, Camp Gordon Johnston WWII Museum, in Carrabelle, FL. There will be stops throughout the county with the run concluding by 4:30 pm at the American Legion Post 82 in Lanark, FL. The final stop party will be a great time with dinner, live music by Ashley Morgan Music and of course, winner prizes, door prizes, and a 50/50 raffle.

Registration for the Dice Run is available now at https://cgjevents.ticketleap.com/dicerun5/. Tickets for the Dice Run with meal are available for $25 per person which includes the ride, one dice run score card, a door prize ticket, dinner and live music. Day of registration will also be available starting at 11:30 am on-site at Camp Gordon Johnston Museum, 1873 US Hwy 98 W, Carrabelle, FL. Extra score cards, meals, and more are also available for purchase online.

Guests are urged to come to Carrabelle early to enjoy the Veterans Parade. The parade, which honors military veterans and active duty military, will start at 10:45 am along US Hwy 98 in downtown Carrabelle. Visitors are also welcome to visit the museum from 11 am-5 pm to learn the stories of the region’s WWII heroes. Participants are encouraged to stay for the weekend (or the week) and enjoy a variety of community activities, attractions, and restaurants.

Amy Socha, Senior Archaeologist with the Bureau of Archaeological Research, will provide a special Florida Archaeology Month presentation about Florida’s dugout canoes and information on recent discoveries.

Beth Appleton’s intricate and colorful pieces celebrate her innovative spirit and deep connection to nature. Known for her unique use of cut paper and layered compositions, Appleton’s art offers a contemporary perspective on the natural world, drawing viewers into her imaginative and richly detailed creations. Complementing Appleton’s work, the exhibition showcases the history and evolution of 25 Years of Chain of Parks Art Festival Posters. This retrospective highlights the artistic contributions that have defined the festival’s identity over the years, paying homage to the talented artists whose designs have become beloved symbols of this community event.
