The Friends of the Franklin County Public Libraries (FFCPL) invites visitors and residents to enjoy a relaxing and creative afternoon at the upcoming Adult Crafternoon workshop. This engaging program will take place on Tuesday, January 28, at 2:30 pm ET, at both the Eastpoint and Carrabelle branches.

Participants will have the opportunity to create their own faux stained glass. This project offers guests an opportunity to make their own colorful work of art without the need for expensive equipment or advanced artistic skills, making it perfect for crafters of all experience levels. Registration is required as spots are limited! Registration can be made by calling either the Carrabelle or Eastpoint library branches. Supplies are included, and the event is free and open to all adults—no library card required.

Adult Crafternoon is part of the Franklin County Public Libraries’ Program Series, which provides engaging activities for all ages. The Program Series is packed with exciting events, including StoryTimes for children, STEM Space for young explorers, Kids Crafts and more. Each program is designed to cater to different interests, ensuring that there’s something for everyone in the community. Regular programs will continue as scheduled, including the Eastpoint Book Chat on the 1st Tuesday at 1:30 pm, the Carrabelle Book Chat on the 1st Friday at 1:30 pm, and the Eastpoint Writer’s Forum on the 3rd Wednesday at 1:00 pm.

The Friends of the Franklin County Public Libraries, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting the libraries in Eastpoint and Carrabelle, proudly sponsor the Fall Program Series. Their continued efforts help ensure that the libraries remain vibrant community hubs, offering valuable programs and resources for all.

Tallahassee community contra dances have resumed in the Senior Center Ballroom on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month! Contra dancing is an upbeat, beginner-friendly American folk dance for all ages. It shares many moves with square dancing (such as swing your partner and do-si-do) and is danced in long lines to live music. The bands and callers vary each night. Come alone or bring friends–no partner or experience required. Those new to contra dancing are strongly encouraged to come by 7:15 when a Beginner Lesson will be taught, and as dances are taught in more detail early in the evening. Wear comfortable clothes and flat shoes.

LeMoyne Arts is glad to announce Southern Exposure, a captivating solo exhibition by celebrated artist Joe Roache.
This exhibition runs from Saturday, January 25th, to Saturday, February 22, 2025. This dynamic collection celebrates the soul of the South through Roache’s stunning and evocative paintings, brought to life in an extraordinary fusion of art and technology.
The exhibition will span four gallery rooms: three filled with Joe Roache’s traditional artwork, showcasing his vibrant portrayals of Southern culture and landscapes, and one featuring an immersive projector experience. In collaboration with visionary artists Keith Roberson and Will Hill, the Albrecht Gallery will come alive with generative animation projections inspired by Roache’s paintings. These projections extend beyond the frames, transforming the space into an interactive environment where art interacts with itself and the viewer.
This dynamic collection invites art lovers to experience the essence of Southern culture and landscapes through Roache's distinctive artistic lens.

Black Women Artists from the Gadsden Arts Permanent Collection

This exhibition presents art by American women artists who shared their lives, cultures, family traditions, wisdom, and beliefs through art. Although these artists were self-taught and they often worked with found materials, their expressive works and distinctive styles of art have earned them acclaim in major U.S. Museums. Featured artists include Alynne Harris, Bessie Harvey, "Missionary" Mary Proctor, Mary T. Smith, and Ruby Williams.

Venvi Art Gallery is delighted to showcase "Canopy Oaks, Embroiderers’ Guild of America (EGA): Original Art and Fine Craft", a group exhibition of works by members of the organization Embroiderers’ Guild of America. Varying types of needlework incorporating various designs and techniques will be featured in this exhibition. "Canopy Oaks, Embroiderers’ Guild of America (EGA): Original Art and Fine Craft" will be on display from February 7th to March 16th, with its opening reception on February 7th from 5-8pm.

"Canopy Oaks, Embroiderers’ Guild of America (EGA): Original Art and Fine Craft" showcases over 30 embroidery and needlework pieces by numerous members of the organization. Each piece is handcrafted and has intricate detail. Canopy Oaks, Embroiderers’ Guild of America (EGA): Original Art and Fine Craft intends to showcase and educate anyone who views the pieces about the art and craft of embroidery, alongside celebrating its heritage and use in the community. According to Pam Doffek, a chapter member, EGA is “deeply dedicated to the study, preservation, and promotion of needle arts… Like any other artwork, it needs to be shown and shared, eliciting all the feelings and emotions of any art, 2-D, or 3-D.”

EGA is a nonprofit organization that was formed in 1958 as a branch to the organization Embroiderers’ Guild of London. It withdrew and became its own organization in 1970. EGA’s mission is to inspire passion for needlework and other similar arts via cooperating and sharing ideas with like-minded individuals by promoting a high standard of embroidery techniques and designs. Each chapter is dedicated to using embroidery to benefit their communities. EGA holds a juried exhibit called Through the Needle’s Eye annually in its headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky. Members of EGA are able to submit their own works to be displayed in this showcase.
