Afternoon with the Arts Luncheon & Fashion Show
Wednesday, January 22, 2025, 12pm - 3pm
Celebrate art and fashion, featuring custom designs by Betty Rogers, a
rising star whose Beloved Designs is inspired by Rogers' native country of
Colombia and handmade jewelry designs by Quincie Hamby, whose
one-of-a-kind art explores connections, inspired by the beauty of Europe,
Central America, & Hawaii. Fashion, jewelry, and art shopping will be
available after the luncheon fashion show! Advance reservations are
required – availability is limited. All events happen in the beautiful
historic Bell & Bates Building at Gadsden Arts.
All proceeds support Gadsden Arts programs in our community.

Chabad Lubavitch of the Panhandle, Tallahassee, a Jewish outreach organization, will be staging their 24th annual Jewish Community Chanukah Celebration at Cascades Park on Sunday, December 29th, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m., with the Menorah lighting at 5:00 p.m.
Enjoy the festivities with Chabad of Tallahassee! There will be games, music, and more! Refreshments include donuts, latkes, hot cocoa, and chocolate gelt, so bring your appetite!

"Drop-In" to find out how much fun Modern Western square dancing is.
Tallahassee's Capital Twirlers Square Dance Club invites you to participate in some basic steps at the Tallahassee Senior Center second floor ballroom from 7 to 8 PM on October 14, November 18, December 16 or January 13. Then join a new beginner's class starting on January 27th for 12 weeks at $5 a lesson. Square dancing is a delightfully energetic activity that requires lessons to learn the steps. You will be smiling within minutes, laughing and want to keep on dancing.

If your first thought is: “I can’t dance”, there’s no worry about stepping on your partner’s toes, since you are usually dancing side-by-side. No fancy footwork is required. Instead, you walk quickly in time with the music as you create formations with the other dancers in your square - following the caller’s instructions. It is not difficult to learn; and you don’t have to be graceful. The challenge is in not knowing what will come next; the next step will be “called” out to you. As you continue learning, each “call” or step builds on the previous ones so, with practice, you will be rewarded with the very fun and satisfying experience of square dancing! You will walk many steps at each session, so wear comfortable clothes and shoes. (No crinolines or cowboy boots needed.) Contrary to our name, we do not twirl much, so you will not get dizzy. Please bring a partner, if you can, to get the most out of the event. Ages 12 and up.

Wine Tasting & Trunk Show

Attention wine lovers and shoppers! Enjoy a sommelier-guided wine
tasting by Hummingbird featuring celebrated wines from South America
and Hors d'oeuvres by Klassic Katering. Before or after your session,
shop fashions by Betty Rogers, jewelry by Quincie Hamby, and
contemporary art in the Collect Select Exhibition. All events happen in
the beautiful historic Bell & Bates Building at Gadsden Arts.
Be sure to select reservations for your preferred seating, 4:30 pm or
6pm. You may enjoy the trunk show at any time, 4pm – 7pm. Advance
reservations required - availability limited. All proceeds support Gadsden

1920s Speakeasy & Jazz Dinner
Saturday, January 24, 2025, 6pm - 9pm
On Saturday, the final day of our 2 Weeks with the Arts, experience the
1920s Jazz Dinner by Chef Leon Brunson with music by the Joe Goldberg
Function and Avis Berry. The evening will open with cocktails in the
museum’s Speakeasy, followed by a seated dinner and performance in
the Sara May Love Gallery at Gadsden Arts.

The Crooked River Lighthouse will be hosting an event where visitors can enjoy the Wolf Moon at Crooked River Lighthouse on Sunday, January 12, 2025 from 5:30-8:00 pm ET in Carrabelle, FL. Visitors can enjoy the gorgeous natural surroundings of St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach under the glow of the sunset and rising Wolf Moon.

Visitors can enjoy an after-hours tour of the Keeper’s House Museum and see the exhibit of the lighthouse’s original, historic Fresnel lens constructed in 1894 in Paris, France. Guests can browse the unique nautical gifts and souvenirs in the gift shop. Visitors can gather around the glowing Wolf Moon bonfire, complete with spirited howling and lighthearted activities designed to bring out a sense of youthful fun while maintaining respect for the surroundings. Bring a chair and enjoy the evening.

For those brave souls who are seeking even more adventure, evening tower climbs to the top of the tallest lighthouse on the Forgotten Coast are available. Evening climbs are scheduled at 15-minute intervals throughout the event. Climbers will be rewarded with breathtaking views of St. George Sounds, Dog Island and Carrabelle Beach. Evening climbs cost $10 and climb reservations are strongly encouraged due to limited availability. Climbers must be at least 44 inches tall and children under 12 (FREE) with ticketed adults. Kaleidoscope Theatre will present The Mousetrap by Agatha Christie, the world’s longest-running play! After a local woman is murdered, the guests and staff at Monkswell Manor find themselves stranded during a snowstorm. It soon becomes clear that the killer is among them, and the seven strangers grow increasingly suspicious of one another.
This popular mystery will open January 10 and run for 2 weekends, ending January 19.
