Capital Report: April 12, 2023

Florida lawmakers have advanced several bills on history—specifically, the histories of minorities in the country. As Adrian Andrews reports, the proposals come amid a state debate on exactly what sort of historical discussions belong in state classrooms.

A proposal to ban merchant codes for gun and ammunition sales in Florida is ready for the full House. Gina Jordan reports it’s already been approved by the Senate, largely along party lines.

Several Republican bills aimed at cracking down on gun crimes and violent offenders are moving closer to the finish line in the Florida legislature. As Valerie Crowder reports, House lawmakers plan to make those measures a priority in the coming weeks…
