Capital Report: March 23, 2023

It’s only the 3rd week of session, but lawmakers have already passed 2 of the big priorities for the governor and legislative leadership: sweeping lawsuit reform and universal school vouchers. Lynn Hatter shares the latest with Tom Flanigan.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis wants to extend a ban on classroom discussions surrounding gender identity and sexual orientation through the 12th grade. He wants to do it through administrative rulemaking. Regan McCarthy reports it’s an expansion of the so called “Don’t Say Gay” bill passed last year by lawmakers and it goes further than what Republicans are currently considering.

Kevin Del Orbe reports that the measures regarding limiting gender identity and sexual orientation discussion in schools are raising alarms, especially for members and supporters of the LGBTQ community.
