Governor Ron DeSantis has scored a critical victory in his war against so-called “wokeness.” The Republican-controlled legislature is sending him a bill that says employers cannot compel their employees to participate in trainings that can make the employee feel bad; and schools cannot teach subjects like history or race in a way that can make students feel the same. Lynn Hatter reports in addition to fighting woke-ness, the legislature is also allowing greater flexibility in challenging school books, and term-limiting school board members.
A bill that targets transportation companies bringing alleged “ghost flights” of undocumented immigrants into the state is now heading for Governor Ron DeSantis’ desk. The contentious measure is one of DeSantis’ top priorities. Florida forestry officials are cautioning against yard burning of any kind this wildfire season as crews work to combat a massive blaze burning in Gulf, Calhoun and Bay Counties.
