A bill to ban most abortions after 15 weeks is scheduled for a vote in the Florida Senate today after lawmakers considered more than a dozen proposed amendments to the measure Wednesday. Regan McCarthy reports debate grew emotional as lawmakers shared personal stories.

The Florida House is now ready to pass its proposed congressional map. The Republican-controlled chamber today [Thursday] approved a plan that includes two U-S House maps — one would serve as a backup in case their preferred map doesn’t withstand legal muster. As Valerie Crowder reports, the biggest difference between the two centers on the location of north Florida’s African American voting district.

The coronavirus pandemic has taken an especially harsh toll on residents in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Many have died from COVID-19, others have suffered from isolation and staff shortages. As Health News Florida's Stephanie Colombini reports, that's made some people decide to take their loved ones' care in their own hands. But they face other challenges.
