The Florida Supreme Court today (Thursday) declined to rule on Governor DeSantis’s proposed redistricting plan, particularly in the matter of a North Florida congressional district. Valerie Crowder has been following the issue and tells Tom Flanigan about it.

A bill that would ban most abortions after 15 weeks passed its final House committee Thursday with no questions and no debate. Regan McCarthy reports Democrats on the committee chose to give up their speaking time to give more time to members of the public and when asked by the chair, Republican members of the committee agreed to follow suit.

Florida lawmakers are steps from closing the search process for public colleges and university presidents. Right now, most of those considerations are done publicly—with committees holding interviews and vetting candidates in meetings open to anyone. That could change after a key Senate vote Thursday. Lynn Hatter reports the next stop is the House, where policy makers have long sought to close the presidential search process.
