Florida lawmakers say the state’s property insurance system just isn’t working. Rates are climbing and families are frustrated. Republicans point to frivolous lawsuits brought by bad actors as the reason for the trouble. Regan McCarthy reports a measure to address that is a vote away from the governor’s desk, but not everyone agrees it’s the right solution.

Transgender women and girls would effectively be banned from playing on high school or college female sports teams under a bill approved by both the Florida House and Senate. Robbie Gaffney reports LGBTQ advocates and their allies are calling on Governor Ron DeSantis to veto the proposal.
